Reviews from guests about our tours and locals
"William picked us up at the hotel, with a perfekt and secure car, he is a very good driver and explains a lot. He went with us into a temple and introduced us the ceremony . We asked him to avoid crowded and touristic places and he found alternatives. For us we had a perfect day with William "
"Everywhere I travel, I book a food tour. Garen is among the top guides I have had the pleasure of learning from. She’s warm and welcoming, tailoring the time to best fulfill her clients desires. Her passion and knowledge for Taiwan’s history is passed along to all those fortunate enough to spend a part of a day with her. I will forever cherish my experience! "
"We had an amazing time on food tour with Eva! She was friendly, knowledgeable, and took us to incredible local spots we never would have found on our own. The food was delicious, the stories and history of the food as engaging, and the whole experience felt authentic and fun. Highly recommend this tour with Eve if you want to truly taste Taipei! 🌟🍜"
"Two tours on successive days with Garen were simply outstanding! She is endearing, smart, fun and completely dedicated to guiding guests to the best of Taipei. Day one was a food tour in the Dongmen/Daan area that included numerous fantastic tastes with intriguing historical facts of this island nation. This touched on Chinese/Japanese history since those cultures highly influenced Taipei’s past. Day two was focused on history in and around the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and finished with an informative walk through a local bustling market in the midst of preparing for the Chinese New Year. Garen has done her homework—she explains the “how” and “why” of topics at hand to create a truly unique experience in all regards. Thanks for making our trip a great one Garen!"
"We had an absolutely wonderful walking food tour with Garen! From the moment we met her, her energy was warm, welcoming, and contagious. She took us to markets and food spots that felt truly local — places we never would have discovered on our own. Every stop came with great stories and insights, making the experience both delicious and informative. Garen was incredibly friendly and polite, and my kids especially enjoyed her company. She was so patient, happy to answer all our questions, and even offered to take photos for our family — which we really appreciated. Communication before and after the tour was excellent; she was responsive, helpful, and full of useful tips. This tour became one of the highlights of our Taiwan trip. If we’re lucky enough to visit Taiwan again, we would absolutely book another tour with Garen without hesitation. Highly recommended!"
"Excellent tour and amazing guide. Would definitely do it again!"
"Eva did an amazing job maximizing our layover in Taipei. We only had about 8 hours to kill, and we left feeling unrushed and full of new knowledge (and, of course a lot of tasty food). She reached out to plan the details of the trip with us as soon as we booked, and did a great job tailoring the location and dishes around our list of preferences. Our tour started at Longshan Temple station, which was pretty easy to get to by train from the airport. Without needing to leave the neighborhood we got to try a bunch of cute little mom and pop style shops that all specialized in one or two delicious dishes. Everything we tried was kind of familiar to various Chinese food that we've tried before, but with really interesting and delicious adjustments that were new to us. We tried a really good scallion pancake (Cong Zhua Bing) that was crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. The wild boar sausage wrapped in sticky rice (Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang) is going to be noticeably absent from my life now that I know it exists. My wife was all about the radish cake (luo bo gao) with its big flavor and squishy texture. There was also a night market (relatively chill vibe compared to the hustle and bustle of markets in places like Bangkok), some cool historic buildings, and of course Longshan Temple itself which is beautiful and full of locals making offerings. Everything was flat and walkable. The bathrooms at Longshan Temple were nice, and there were plenty of opportunities to grab a bottle of water and a souvenir or two (having a local with you helps that cause). Eva was incredibly knowledgeable about the food, the city, and the history of Taiwan in general. She took care of all the transactions for us and made us feel like guests visiting her. It was just us and her, so we didn't have that dorky tour group feeling as we walked around. We came knowing next to nothing about Taipei and left feeling grateful for a layover for the first time. "
"Garen was absolutely fantastic. She was great at communications before we met and very accommodating about our food preferences. She gave a great tour, weaving history, geography and weather together with amazing food. We tried great local food and got a tour of a really interesting area which we returned to multiple times during our trip. We got great advice on how to eat like a local and an explanation of ingredients and regions. Garen was great fun and after the tour messaged us with recommendations and details which helped us for the rest of our trip"
"We loved our tour with Daphne. She was a very knowledgeable local host who provided a good insight to the history, culture and lifestyle of Taiwanese ppl. The tour didn't feel rushed and we got to see and understand the significance of the Tapeu landmarks. Thank you Daphne for a great introduction to Taipei."
