One of the highlights for me was her tour of the historic Longshan temple and her explanation of the Taoist practices and beliefs. Dihua street and the Chiang Kai Shek memorial were also fascinating. "We had such a fantastic time on our food tour with June around the Dongmen area of Taipei. From the moment we met her, she made us feel completely at ease. She was friendly, conversational, and full of fascinating stories about Taiwanese food, history, and culture.
Every dish she introduced us to was absolutely delicious, and she helped us appreciate the flavours, traditions, and little details behind each one. We also learned so much about Taiwan’s famous teas, something we’d never known much about before, and it added a whole new depth to the experience.
What made the tour truly special was June herself. She clearly knows this neighbourhood inside out, and it showed in the way she interacted with the stallholders and restaurant staff. We could tell she’s part of this community. She even went out of her way to invite us to a local wet market the next morning, which was such a generous and thoughtful gesture.
June offered wonderful tips on things to see and do in Taipei and really gave us a local experience we could never have created on our own. For a few hours, it felt like we were exploring the city with a friend rather than a guide.
