"Jhoan was an awesome guide and very knowledgeable about the area. He is born and raised in Medellin and draws much of his experience living through the turbulent years as he explains the history of Comuna 13 through art. The Comuna itself has transformed into a very touristy area, lined with sidewalk sellers. The area is unlike any place I’ve seen before and worth the time to explore. "

"Jhoan expertly led us through this colorful, amazing village. I felt like I saw everything I had come to see and more. He was patient and never rushed us. "

He has a very interesting background and was kind enough to share that with us.

His personal connection and evolution to a mature and articulate adult and deep knowledge of the history of that area really brought the neighborhood alive for us. He made the complex history understandable, with excellent pacing (neither too fast, nor too slow) and offered several flexible options for us to decide to lean more heavily towards neighborhoods or towards tourist spots.

We explored stunning architecture, learned about the remarkable development of the Medellín Metro, and never once felt rushed. Jhoan’s relaxed pace and warm personality made the experience both engaging and comfortable.
Even after the tour ended, he went above and beyond: he personally walked us to an excellent restaurant he recommended and shared fantastic suggestions for what to see and do during the rest of our stay.
