He showed us the popular spots but also some off the beaten path areas. He got us a sampling of the amazing food and we visited the oldest bar in Bologna. "A warm, sunny Sunday afternoon was made even better by a walking tour with Sarah, an accomplished travel journalist, wine writer and thirty year resident of the city. The tour takes in several bars which also serve snacks, some of the major attractions of Bologna and Sarah provides a stream of information on markets, bars, restaurants and other local items of interest. Sarah’s focus during our tour was on wines from Emilia-Romagna, including the internationally obscure but very seductive Albano variety. Sarah is an engaging and natural communicator with a passion for her work and was most generous with her time. An afternoon well spent."

"We traveled from Florence to Bologna for a day trip to explore the city and culinary delights. Giuseppe met us at the Mercato delle Erbe, where we first stopped at Formaggeria Bernardi, where we learned much about how the meats and cheeses were made, and left with small packages of prosciutto, parmagiano reggiano, and mortadella to sample later. Then, we moved on to Sfogliamo, where we sampled spinach and ricotta tortellone in a butter and Parmesan sauce, tagliatelle bolognese, and tortellini soup. In addition, we picked up some carmelized pickled onions from Pollo Mino di Mandile. The choices were delicious. We then headed out for a walking tour of Bologna, learning about its history, stopping to eat our meats and cheeses, and finishing it off with coffee and gelato. Throughout, Giuseppe showed us the knowledge of someone who had spent nearly his entire life in Bologna in a cheerful and friendly way. He then sent us home with a tart of Mostarda Bolognese and Torta di Rosa, both of which are traditional specialties from Bologna. Overall, we had a wonderful day and cannot recommend Giuseppe enough!"
