Reviews from guests about our tours and locals
"We booked the 3hr 10 tastings tour with Karen before we knew the weather forecast - torrential rain for 2 full days, totally flooded streets. Despite this Karen arrived full of smiles and positivity. We were treated to freshly baked jam filled breads (bakery was rammed out of the door but we went straight to the front), then freshly made (right in front of us) sweets. A 1mim walk to the next treat, Patacones, topped with big wedge of cheese. You MUST try in with the coriander sauce. Across the road, the street vendor pulled us up some chairs and we had a seafood cocktail. I don’t have enough space to describe all the delicious tastings but there were 10, including local beers in a very local setting. All the vendors were incredibly friendly and accommodating. But to compliment this Karen shared her vast knowledge of local culture and history, as a local herself. We wandered through several districts and two of the tastings were actually in people’s homes! I can’t stress enough how much this made what was a very wet and somewhat disappointing few days in Cartagena into a trip with wonderful memories. Thank you Karen you are clearly a foody and love your city, as now do we! Vikki & David"
"Andrea was an exceptional local tour guide in Cartagena. From the very beginning, her communication was clear, friendly, and professional, which made planning effortless. Her knowledge of the local culture and history added real depth to the experience, and she shared it in a way that was engaging and easy to appreciate. Most importantly, Andrea made us feel completely at ease throughout the tour. We truly enjoyed our time with her and would not hesitate to book her again. Highly recommended."
"Karen was beyond amazing. She answered all of our questions, navigated us to places we would have never gotten to on our own, and of course introduced us to so many delicious dishes!! It was a perfect introduction for our week in Cartagena and really empowered us with knowledge and the layout of the city to guide the rest of our time. I'm still thinking about that shrimp cocktail and we did go back a second time to get more of the Arepa de huevos and that ahi salsa after the tour. I highly recommend Karen for your tour!!! "
"Andrea is a pro. She showed me all the highlights of Cartagena: the beautiful streets and shops, picturesque churches and squares with street performers. Per my request, she also showed me some of the real Cartagena beyond the tourist attractions, including tasty homemade empanadas. Looking beyond her considerable skills as a tour guide, Andrea is also an interesting, accomplished and well read person."
"I highly recommend doing a tour with Wendy. She is a local of the area and her history knowledge is exceptional. We booked the Cartegena (walled city) and Gethsemani tour and added the culinary experience. We got to hear how the areas came to be and why they are the way they are now. Tasting some of the local street food was an experience I wouldn’t want to miss out on. It was all very good. I’m glad we got to spend the hours with Wendy learning all about her culture. Highly recommended!"
"Cartagena is a beautiful city and this is a great way to experience it! We only had one day here, as we were on a cruise, so we wanted to make the most of it. This tour allowed us to explore the city and also taste the local delicacies. Karen is a wonderful guide with a wealth of knowledge on the history of the city and its food offerings. She and her helper, Valentina, expertly ushered our group of 15 through the city. We had a tight timeline to get back to our ship and they made sure we finished with plenty of time. The portions of food were much more than we expected. Full size, not bites. I would not hesitate to book this tour—you will be delighted! "
"Our family of 4 truly enjoyed the morning walk with Andrea, she is a very nice person, knowledgeable and a great story teller, kids have bonded very quickly and she showed us around Cartagena, helping us understand the city, culture and history - we were very pleased and highly recommend Andrea!"
"Wendys is sweet and honest, and knows all you need to know about Cartagena 👌🏻"
"My family and I had a wonderful time with Wendy on this culinary adventure!! We tried a large variety of foods and drinks popular in Cartagena. Our favorite stop had to be a local fruit stand where we tried numerous tropical fruits grown in Columbia. Wendy was an amazing guide who radiated so much love for her country, family, and local cuisine!!"
"Andrea was a friendly and knowledgeable guide, who adapted the tour to our preferences. She gave us loads of recommendations for restaurants, salsa bars and other sites to see whilst we’re in Cartagena. The tour included, the city walls, lots of quaint streets in the old town, as well as churches and cathedrals and many other monuments. She gave us lots of general advice on what parts of the city to visit and how to stay safe during our stay. We highly recommend Andrea if you’re looking for a private tour. We thoroughly recommend booking at the start of your trip to get a good understanding of the area and what to see and do."
