"Komang accompanied me to the Melukat ritual in the Pura Taman Pecampuhan Sala temple. He was kind enough to organise a driver to pick me up from my hotel for a small extra charge. I hadn't quite realised that our excursion consisted solely of the ritual. I had somehow expected that we would also spend time outside the temple, hiking and meditating. This may have been due to the pictures on the Withlokals website, as Komang had actually described to me beforehand exactly what we were going to do. I had my own personal challenges during the ritual. Komang accompanied me in a very personalised and empathetic way. This allowed me to experience the spirituality of Bali at first hand. It was a really very personal experience for me that will stay with me. Back in Germany, I am still wearing the bracelet that Komang untied for me after the ritual. Welcome to Bali, said Komang. "We wanted to learn about Balinese culture and religion but after all we learned a lot about ourselves! This tour with Komang (Mangku is his title as a priest) was not only well organised but also a calm, hustle free dive into spirituality. Komang is a very charismatic, highly intelligent and empathetic man and the perfect guide into the Balinese ritual of melukat. The place he chose was stunningly beautiful and not crowded at all. Every person at the temple, especially the high priest, who leads the prayers and gives a blessing afterwards was open to foreigners and very welcoming. This tour is not for instagram-shot hunters but for people who want to be allowed to take a glimpse into this particular part of Balinese live. If you come with an open mind and just go with it, you will be highly rewarded! Nevertheless nobody will give you strange looks if you want to take some pictures there as long as this is not the sole purpose of your visit! Highly recommend!"

"The setting of this tour (Pura Taman Pecampuhan Sala) is a beautiful and secluded temple in a waterfall canyon, and the ideal location for learning and experiencing a cleansing ritual. We felt thoroughly cleansed, both physically (from light splashes to full immersion) and emotionally/spiritually. Mengku Komang found his calling as a priest (Mengku) some years ago, after a previous professional career. This gives him unique insight and an ability to communicate the intricacies of Balinese spirituality to a foreigner’s understanding. If he takes you on this journey, you will get a much more personal and immersive journey than is offered by the temple priests or other local guides. It is also worth walking around the rice terraces surrounding the parking lot, where the village residents welcomed us warmly. Thank you, Mengku Komang!"
