In the big cities the nightlife is diverse enough to have something for everyone to enjoy. There are numerous bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs to satisfy people of different ages, cultures and with all kinds of music preferences. Locals go out mostly on Fridays or Saturdays. In the bars, pubs and clubs it usually starts to get crowded around midnight. It is not unusual to return around 5 o'clock in the night after a night of going out, the Dutchies love their parties! There are also a lot of organized dance parties throughout the whole year. On average almost half of the locals visits an organized party or festival each month. The locals have a special place in their hearts for their beer, on average they drink around 70 liters beer per person per year. Places to go out in The Netherlands

  • The most famous and well known party areas are located in the big cities were the most students are located. Such cities are: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Nijmegen, Den Bosch and Tilburg.
  • The largest bar street is located in Eindhoven, Noord Brabant. A 5 minute walk from the central station you will find this popular street called Stratumseind. The street is a mix of  bars, pubs and different clubs, you’re guaranteed to have fun!
  • In the popular beach places such as Noordwijk Katwijk and Scheveningen there are several party areas where you can enjoy the nightlife at the beach. In the summer there are great  festivals at the beach too!
  • Being one of the most gay and lesbian friendly cities, Amsterdam also has some so called “pink” areas. In areas such as the Regulierdwarstraat and the Warmoestraat you will find some gay and lesbian friendly nightclubs.
  • In East Amsterdam you will find the more massive music venues such as the Ziggo Dome and the Heineken Music Hall which are suited for big live performances.U2, Beyonce or Sam Smith fan? You got it, that’s where they would be performing!
  • Rotterdam had definitely gone through a lot of changes and developments since the Word War 2 bombing. Nowadays you can find the trendiest bars and restaurants around at the Rotterdam harbour.
  • The Leidseplein is a square in Amsterdam where you will find several typical Amsterdam bars and a variety of random  street performers.
  • The Wilheminaplein in Eindhoven is a ten minutes walk from the main bar street in Eindhoven. Here you will find Restaurants,cool cafes and a great variety of live music at the Wilhelmina Cafe if you’re looking to relax for the evening.
