Great Restaurants in Eindhoven, The Netherlands

  • Just outside the busy centre of Eindhoven (10 minutes walk from central station) the restaurant called Keldermanenvannoort has a cool pittoresque location. Here art food and drinks are combined. The prices are affordable, a three course dinner is available from 21,50 euros.

  • Located in the street called Smalle Haven, very close to the nightlife of Eindhoven, Haai eet vis (Shark eets fish) has a very special concept. There is no menu card, together with the chef you will decide your own meal. The emphasis of the food is mainly on fish.
  • On the Kerkstraat located close to Catharina Church you will find several cozy and high quality restaurants. An example is the authentic restaurant Vintage.
  • The Ketelhuis on Strijp-S became the so called “living room” of Strijp-S. A place where people come to together and feel welcome. The restaurant uses local products and offers a 3 course menu that starts from 25 euros.
  • Located in the small streets of the area called Bergen you will find Mangiare, a high quality italian restaurant that will change your opinion about the „simple pasta”.
  • Looking for a quick bite? Try the true local food at the local markets. At the weekly city markets you will find some local fish dishes such as herring and kibbeling. Also the best cheese is to be found on these markets.

Traditional Dutch Food Eindhoven, The Netherlands

  • A typical lunch snack in the south is “Worstenbrood”. This snack is a piece of bread filled with meat. It is way less popular in the rest of the Netherlands.
  • Balkenbrij is a old recipe that was invented by farmers in the South. They came up with this recipe to not spoil the the unused parts of pig meat. In the united states it’s also known as scrapple.
  • Dutch locals are a huge fan of Pancakes, the word in Dutch is “pannenkoeken”. These “pannenkoeken” are similar to the French crepes, but  pannekoeken are somewhat thicker and are usually served with ingredients such as bacon, cheese or even fruit.
  • The “Bossche Bol” is a typical delicacy in the region Brabant. Its true origin lies in Den Bosch where you can still buy the best Bossche Bollen out there. It’s basically a large profiterole, filled with whipped cream and coated with dark chocolate. Delicious!
  • Two of the famous street foods in the Netherlands which you usually can get on the weekly marketplaces are “haring” and “kibbeling”.
