A customized trip with Claudette
Housed in an historic landmark building that was formerly a bank, the apartment has high ceilings, huge windows and a lovely spacious feel. Ed graciously met us at the main door and escorted us in. Claudette had prepared a table groaning with dishes made from her Indonesian mother's original recipes - steaming white rice, a savory beef stew, a crunchy colorful salad, baked tofu with bean sprouts and a well-seasoned peanut sauce, and the piece de resistance, the most delicious chicken wings, along with crunchy krupuk chips and homemade hot chili relish. What a feast! We shared this delicious, authentic Indonesian meal with beer and wine, and lively conversation with Claudette and Ed, who are a well traveled couple. Dessert was an Indonesian spiced layer cake painstakingly baked in alternating light and dark layers by Claudette. Can warmly recommend this experience to anyone who loves food and wants to get to know locals in Amsterdam. A real highlight of our visit!
