The easiest way to travel to Koh Samui is from Bangkok. Simply hop on a plane, and 80 minutes later you will find yourself on this island of ultimate relaxation. Don’t feel like flying? No worries, there are also bus/ferry combinations. You can book a private or government bus from Bangkok’s Southern bus terminal, with 2nd class prices varying from 450 to 500B. In order to travel around the island, rental agencies in Na Thon, Chaweng or Lamai are available where you can rent cars, motorcycles or bicycles. You can also enter one of the several bungalows around the island and ask what kind of vehicles they have for rent. Another way to ravel is to use a taxi or motorbike taxi, the latter recognizable by their colored numbered vests. The local bus service is arranged by the Songthaews, red colored converted pickup trucks with two bench seats snuggled in the back.
