Bandaranaike International Airport

The BIA is the main airport in Sri Lanka and it can get busy during peak hours. This airport is about 30 kilometers away from the capital city of Colombo thus making it a popular choice amongst its visitors. Navigating through the airport is very easy with several signboards placed at every corner making it very convenient for its visitors. However, if you do lose your way, just ask one of the friendly local staff who should be able to guide you.

Stuck at the airport and don’t know what to do? Don’t worry! This airport in Sri Lanka is fully equipped with modern facilities such as Wi-Fi, multi-faith prayer rooms, duty-free shopping centers and much more! You will surely find something to occupy yourself with.

You can easily get to the city from the airport as you have the option of getting into a private taxi/van or use the public transport. Private taxis are the most cost-effective option if you’re traveling as a group or have many bags to carry. This airport in Sri Lanka is connected to the city through an expressway allowing you to get to the city within 20-30 minutes depending on the traffic.

The closest tourist city to the airport is Negombo and most visitors prefer stopping by there before heading to Colombo. Ask your local guide for recommended itineraries so you could save time by not having to travel back and forth.

Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA)

This airport in Sri Lanka is on the Southern border of the country. It is the best option if you plan on exploring the Southern cities of the island. This airport is less busy as it currently serves limited flights. It does however accommodate domestic flights in case you are interested.

The closest city to this airport is Hambantota, which has a few hotels that have recently been established. Alternatively, you could travel to the more touristic city of Mirissa, which is about 120 kilometers from the airport by road.

All About Curry - Private Cooking class

Manoshi was a great cookery teacher. I loved the private one on one class, as I got to be involved with all the preparation and cooking. The dishes we made were veggie friendly and some of the best I tasted in all my trip in Sri Lanka.

She organised a pick up and drop off from my hotel, making it easy for me as a traveller. The venue of the cookery class is well equipped and spacious.

The ingredients were all laid out beautifully, and she packed up leftovers for me at the end.

I really recommend this cookery class for anyone interested in easy Sri Lankan dishes.

Hike the Adam's Peak and Catch the Sunrise

We made a trip from Kandy to the Adams Peak. He showed us not just the Adams Peak. We discovered a few other areas like a Tea Factory, went river rafting and he also told us much about sri lankan culture and animals! We liked it very much! We hardly recommend this guy to all people how want to explore sri lanka with a private guide!
