Airport in Madrid

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) is the air transport hub for Madrid. It's the busiest airport in Spain and one of the largest flight destinations in Europe. Barajas is the base for Iberia Airlines, which is Spain's flag carrier and, has four terminals: 1, 2 and 3 are clustered close together, while the recently-constructed terminal 4 is a little further away. Barajas has flight routes between a host of European cities, and intercontinental links to numerous South American and Central American destinations, as well as airports in North Africa, the Persian Gulf and the Far East.

When you arrive in a new country after a long flight, working out the different ways to get around can make your head spin. If you feel daunted by the idea of making your way from the airport by yourself you'll be pleased to know that there are Withlocals guides in Madrid that offer airport transfers. This means peace-of-mind as you'll have one less detail to plan before your trip. And of course, locals will know the most direct routes from the airport, making sure that you'll get to your accommodation as quickly and comfortably as possible.

Public Transport around Airport in Madrid

There are several public transport choices after landing. Most visitors will simply catch the 24-hour Express Bus Service, which departs every 12 minutes by day or 35 minutes late at night. It serves central Madrid destinations such as O'Donell, Cibeles and Atocha, and costs €5. It will take about half an hour to get to Cibeles from Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and 40 minutes from Terminal 4. Terminal 4 is also on a commuter train-line, the C1, and for €2.15 you can get to the Atocha and Chamartin stations without having to change. Another option is to take Metro Line 8 (pink), but this will require two changes to get to central Madrid so is less convenient.

Del Prado & Surrounding Highlights with Ticket!

Elena was a perfect tour guide for us. My teenage daughter was not feeling well and Elena was sympathetic and accommodating - adjusting the start time at the last minute, making extra stops during the tour, seeking out benches for resting, sharing her similar sick travel story. This helped my daughter, already feeling guilty about messing up the trip, enjoy the experience inspite of being under the weather. Thanks again, Elena! Much appreciated.

Prado Museum Private Tour with Ticket Included!

Elena was a fantastic tour guide - in fact so great that we had her show us the Reina Sofia the next day. She has great amounts of knowledge and is very interesting and personable through out the tour. She truly loves the art and history and is committed to growing in her knowledge, she is passionate about her job and the museums. I highly recommend her to anyone.

Madrid's Favorite Food Tour: The 10 Tastings

Pablo is a superb guide. He took us to several neighborhoods we would have never found and places so unique. The tour is 10 stops and we were stuffed when done. And all of it was wonderful. Pablo has a thorough knowledge of the area, history and politics of the region. He was a pleasure to chat with. I would highly recommend Pablo as a guide.
