Means of Transportation in Barcelona, Spain

In general you will have five ways to get from A to B in Barcelona.

Metro The metro system is clean, punctual and air-conditioned – a relaxing way to go around the city. Especially on hot summer days it can be a great break from strolling around the city in the heat. The metro will take you to most of the big sights and attractions without problems.

Bus The buses in Barcelona are clean and efficient, so they make a good choice if you want to cover a larger distance. Next to the regular buses you also have the hop-on-hop-off tourist bus that can bring you to the major touristic highlights of the city.

Walking Exploring Barcelona by foot is a great choice. Not only will it give you the freedom to choose which cute little street to get in to and wander about a bit, also the city is not as big as you might think. You will find that getting a map and walking about will take you to most highlights quick and easy.

Biking Barcelona is very bike friendly and you can rent bikes from many small local shops. The city has a bike borrowing system, but unfortunately that is only reserved for the Spanish locals. Feel the wind in your hair and see all the great places from two wheels.

Barcelona Taxi The official taxi’s in Barcelona are black and yellow, and the green light on the roof will show that the taxi is available. As in most big busy cities, taxi might not be the best option because of the traffic. Most of the city center is not accessible by car and the roads that do go through the center are therefore very busy
