The 'Livraria Lello' is a favourite among the best attractions in Porto. A library that has been dubbed the third most beautiful bookstore in the world, it doesn’t take a lot of guessing to wonder why. The architecture of this gorgeous book store is more than 100 years old and what sets it apart in its beauty is the gothic detailing and art nouveau decor.
This library is a sure pit stop for any Harry Potter fan, as JK Rowling, who lived in Porto for a number of years, said to have been inspired by it’s stain glass and red staircase when writing the first Harry Potter. A friendly local can even point you towards some classic Portuguese authors. Don’t worry, they have books in English too!
