Pokhara has an airport since 1958. It is operated by the government and offers regular flights to Kathmandu, Jomsom and Manang. It is 4 kms from the airport to the city center of Pokhara, which will cost around 300 Nepalese Rupees by taxi. However, most of the hotels will offer a free pick-up included. Since 2009 there are plans for international flights to India, but the progress is very slow. The local population has even set up the Facebook page “we need an international airport in Pokhara” to stimulate the progress.
