Religious Places in Kathmandu, Nepal

Kathmandu has three absolutely stunning stupa’s. Visiting these stupa’s definitely have to be on your bucket list when visiting Nepal.

Boudhanath stupa: This is the largest Buddhist stupa in the world. You can see lots of locals and monks who are walking clockwise around the temple. It is approximately 150 meter.

Swayambhunath stupa: Also called the Monkey Temple, because there are lots of holy monkeys who are living at the temple complex. You can find this Buddhist temple at the top of a hill in the city center. The 365 steps will bring you to the top and will give you a spectacular view of Kathmandu.

Pashupatinath Temple: This is one of the most important Hindu temples of Lord Shiva. It is located near the Bagmati River, 20 minutes from the city center in Kathmandu. It is a cremation place for Hindu’s which is still in use nowadays. With a surrounding with small temples and lots of monkeys, this is an absolutely must-see!
