Holidays in Bali
Each country has it's own holidays and of course Bali also has some great special days to offer. Nyepi, also known as “the day of silence”, is a yearly occurrence. However, not quite as yearly as you might expect. This day celebrates the New Year’s Day of the moon calendar of Bali. This day is celebrated, but in complete silence. Shops are closed, lights are off and no cars are being used. On the day before Nyepi, it is usually normal to make as much noise as you can, using canons for example. Indonesia's Independence day: 17 August is also a famous Holiday. As the name might suggest, this is the day that the locals celebrate their freedom of life. The flags are raised, and marching bands are walking through the streets; there are also beautiful floats for everyone to see.
