Seeing the unique in Paris

Paris is not short of tours. You can just attach yourself on the back of one of the colorless mass tourist groups as they trundle around the big obvious city-center sights like the Eiffel Tower. Maybe you’ll also get very lucky and find that the guide is, actually, French even if not a local. However, as any Parisian will tell you, this city is not just about the top 3-4 household name sights. Anybody can visit those. Rather it’s about history, byways, hidden gems and a unique life experience. Nobody who is an outsider can conduct tours around that aspect of Paris. That is the job of a local specialist and one who has lived and breathed the city over an extended period. If you’ve lived here for years and the city has become part of your DNA then you can really help others to explore it. Otherwise, Paris exploration becomes a matter of chance and compromise. If you’d like to remove chance from your time in Paris and just aren’t willing to settle for the ‘one size fits all’ tourist experience, then it’s worth considering a local guide.

Avoid wasting time in Paris

If you’re on an extended visit to Paris, perhaps running into months, then you can afford to spend time finding out how things work. You may get your fingers burned a few times and waste time and money but perhaps that’s no big deal for you if you’re in ‘discovery mode’ and have time to spare. However, if your holiday visit is shorter, you just won’t want to waste time finding out the hard way what’s not worth seeing, too expensive or a tourist trap. You’ll want to cut to the chase immediately and see the real Paris from day-1. That’s what the Withlocals experience delivers – getting right to the heart of Paris immediately.

Artsy Family Day in Montmartre: Picnic & Crafts

Our absolutely favorite tour in Paris, my daughter Jemma (10) and I both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We started the tour in the local village selecting warm baguettes, cheeses and wine. Throughout the tour we visited many fun and interesting sites, almost all I had never encountered on my previous trips to Montmatre. Nella is warm, friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the artists. The art activities were excellent, each place we stopped had a different art theme, my daughter loved it and I loved that we could share this great place together. The final stop was perfect, enjoying our picnic in a park at the back of Sacre Ceour while doing the final art piece and making the album. Thank you Nella, this was truly a highlight of our holiday!

Masterpieces of the Louvre: Skip the Line Tour

Paola is fabulous!! She is a super positive person; extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant. Clearly loves and studies the history of France and the Louvre. Paola was responsive and communicated well, and I had no worries that she would accommodate our tight schedule. I highly recommend Paola.
