Because of tourism, Siem Reap is one of the most developed and cleanest cities of the kingdom. The roads in town and those leading to tourist attractions are very clean and in good condition. So travelling in Siem Reap is very convenient. If you look in Siem Rea’s roads, you’ll see nearly all kind of vehicles: cars, motorbikes, buses, and another kind of vehicle of transportation, Remork. In Cambodia, everyone drive on the right. Motorbikes are the most common vehicles in the streets because they are the most affordable vehicles. Most of Cambodian families has at least one motorbike. In Angkor Complex, you’ll see many bicycles because many tourists and locals like to ride. In city, the streets is usually very crowded during the rush hour from 7 to 8 and 5 to 7. The roads that lead from Siem Reap to other parts of the country are in good condition. However, most of the time they are crowded because the roads are covered mostly by villages. This may slow down your travel but good thing is you never have to worry even if your bus is broken down along the road. One better thing is you’ll also have a lot of chance to see Cambodian village while travelling.

Local Ways of Transportation in Siem Reap, Cambodia

There are a few means of transportation in the city of Siem Reap. For the travel of short distance, you can find a motodup (motor taxi) or remork. The two are the most common and cheapest. Remork is the most famous mean of transportation for tourists as well as for locals. Compared to Remork, taxi gives us more comfort but it’s not so popular for the locals because of the price. For the transportation of long distance, buses which are all moved by private companies are the most popular. You will find a lot of bus stations in Siem Reap town. So you have a lot of choices to choose. The cost of the bus ticket varies according to the destination and the time of the year. During the national holiday, the price of the bus ticket nearly doubles. Normally, you may have to spend 6$ on a bus ticket from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh.
