Brussels from above

When you’re in a big city, it’s always impressive to have a view from above. You’ll be able to see how far exactly the city stretches. You’ll get a better idea of its urban design. And of course, a panorama from above always looks pretty awesome.

There are several places you can go to when you want to see Brussels from above. For the best panoramic view over Brussels, you’ll have to head a little outside of the city, to the Atomium. The Atomium is a remarkable 335 feet construction, built on the model of a metal crystalline molecule. Visiting it is an experience on itself, but don’t forget to go up to the highest level. You’ll get a complete 360 degree view from there!

Other spots to enjoy a view over Brussels are the Cinquantenaire, the Koekelberg Basilica, the roof terrace of the Musical Instruments Museum and the Promenade at the Palais de Justice, which overlooks the Marolles. Of course, there are many more viewpoints to enjoy. Just ask your local host about them!

Historic sightseeing in Brussels

You don’t need to go many feet above sea level to enjoy Brussels sightseeing. You can stay with your feet on the ground. Let your local guide take you to the best historic sights in Brussels, like the Grand Place, surrounded by guild halls, Manneken Pis and the many old cathedrals like the Gothic cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Gudula, dating back to the 9th century BC!

Did you know that Brussels has Jeanneken Pis as well, the female version of Manneken Pis? And did you know Audrey Hepburn spent most of her childhood in Brussels? Discover it all during historic sightseeing in Brussels!

Gorgeous squares and charming streets

Once you’ve seen Brussels’ greatest historic sights, it’s time to do some sightseeing in Brussels’ lesser known neighborhoods. This is where the locals hang out. This is where you’ll encounter the real atmosphere of Brussels. Have a stroll in the Ixelles District, for instance, with its many beautiful houses, fun shops, trendy cafes, cozy restaurants and peaceful parks. Other places to go to for sightseeing in Brussels are Place Sainte Cathérine, Marché au poisson, Flagey and Halles Saint-Géry.

The Alternative Side of Brussels with a Local

Christophe was really friendly and engaging with our larger group of 12 colleagues. He adapted the alternative side of Brussels Tour to fit our schedule and interests. He was really patient with everyone and let us enjoy the tour in our individual ways. He knows a lot about the city and recommended great places to visit while we were there. Great tour guide! :)

We had such a good time with Csilla and her family! The food that we learned to make was delicious, and the company was even better!! I would highly recommend spending the time to take this cooking class if you are able!

Brussels Art Deco Architectural Gems with a Local

We enjoyed an informative and interesting walking tour with Nettah. He was great to talk to, very knowledgeable and had plenty of insights, both for art deco houses and the treasures of the under rated city of Brussels. Two chocolates from an award winning Belgian chocolate outlet were a yummy bonus (patronised largely by well-informed locals, not tourists).
