Brussels from above

When you’re in a big city, it’s always impressive to have a view from above. You’ll be able to see how far exactly the city stretches. You’ll get a better idea of its urban design. And of course, a panorama from above always looks pretty awesome.

There are several places you can go to when you want to see Brussels from above. For the best panoramic view over Brussels, you’ll have to head a little outside of the city, to the Atomium. The Atomium is a remarkable 335 feet construction, built on the model of a metal crystalline molecule. Visiting it is an experience on itself, but don’t forget to go up to the highest level. You’ll get a complete 360 degree view from there!

Other spots to enjoy a view over Brussels are the Cinquantenaire, the Koekelberg Basilica, the roof terrace of the Musical Instruments Museum and the Promenade at the Palais de Justice, which overlooks the Marolles. Of course, there are many more viewpoints to enjoy. Just ask your local host about them!

Historic sightseeing in Brussels

You don’t need to go many feet above sea level to enjoy Brussels sightseeing. You can stay with your feet on the ground. Let your local guide take you to the best historic sights in Brussels, like the Grand Place, surrounded by guild halls, Manneken Pis and the many old cathedrals like the Gothic cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Gudula, dating back to the 9th century BC!

Did you know that Brussels has Jeanneken Pis as well, the female version of Manneken Pis? And did you know Audrey Hepburn spent most of her childhood in Brussels? Discover it all during historic sightseeing in Brussels!

Gorgeous squares and charming streets

Once you’ve seen Brussels’ greatest historic sights, it’s time to do some sightseeing in Brussels’ lesser known neighborhoods. This is where the locals hang out. This is where you’ll encounter the real atmosphere of Brussels. Have a stroll in the Ixelles District, for instance, with its many beautiful houses, fun shops, trendy cafes, cozy restaurants and peaceful parks. Other places to go to for sightseeing in Brussels are Place Sainte Cathérine, Marché au poisson, Flagey and Halles Saint-Géry.

Josh Christophe

Alternative Side & Origins of Brussels with a born local

Christophe was fun, personable, and very knowledgeable. I proposed a somewhat unusual tour and Christophe was able to give me the experience I was looking for. Our time together felt more like two friends exploring a city (where one person was an expert and the other, not so much) as opposed to a formal tour. I've already recommended him to some friends and I'd absolutely recommend him to you as well.

Delicious Belgian Home Brunch

We had a nice private dining experience with Aurelie.
While in some cultures visting a person's home is an event reserved to close family, we had the chance to learn about Belgian Cuisine right at Aurelie's home.
Thus we learned equally about Belgian Cuisine and about Belgian homes.
A good chance also to share with her some of our experience and practice.

Local Market Visit & Vegan Home Cooking

Before I get started let me add some context: I'm a 6'4, 250lb African
American Vegan. With minimal expectations of finding something that would really relate to me in this city I was punched in the face with a blessing. Something about Shanthuru's withlocals page grabbed me.
Shanthuru is a well cultured, well-spoken(in many languages), genius of a young open mind. I can promise you without all of the facts and knowledge
(believe me there is a lot) that Shanthuru shared throughout this
personalized tour this city would have been good but he made it great! To explore a city with a local who is super educated on the city, the people and politics is unique. I don't get a dime for writing this review so do yourself a favor if you are traveling to this diverse city and look up Shanthuru, I can almost guarantee you will return from your trip and want to do exactly as I'm doing and speak highly of someone who's passion for the city and people is visible on his sleeve pretty much. Thank you for this experience.
