"This was, without a doubt, a fantastic sailing experience with an excellent sailor and wonderful host! As a sailor myself, I was very picky about the sailing experience I was after. Rui delivered exactly what we wanted and more. Rui was very patient with me as I chatted with him on the \"with locals\" website to question him about the sailing experience he would provide. One thing I noticed with other sailing companies in the area is that in all their photos, the sails were either not up at all or they only had the main sail up and were probably motoring. I wanted to make sure this was a sailing adventure, not a boating adventure and he assured me that we'd get what we were after. He was also very patient with me as our plans bounced around...both with the number of people we would have in our group, and the day we wanted to go. Thankfully when we finally settled on a plan, he was still available. We arrived at the marina where we met Rui. He gave us a tour of his boat and we set out. Once out of the marina, he handed the tiller to me, hoisted the sails, cut the engine. As we sailed he pointed out the various landmarks and attractions we could see, told us stories and generally chatted. He soon broke out a tasty snacks plate as well as some fantastic wine. After taking the tiller for a couple of hours I handed it over to my wife who is also an avid sailor. Rui let the two of us take the tiller the entire time we were out there. What a beautiful day! Perfect weather, a steady wind, wonderful food and wine, and great company. This was easily the highlight of our trip to Portugal. Sadly, the trip had to end at some point. We worked our way back to the marina, already looking forward to the next time we could sail with Rui. I don't know how often we'll get back to Lisbon, but I will always book a trip with Rui as part of our trip. Thank you, Rui, for a perfect day on the water! "

"My friend and I booked a 2 hour trip on the Tagus River. Rui made it easy to find him in Belem at the dock. He is a perfect host as well as mariner, giving us his extensive history at sea, which made us both feel safe and at home. He catered the trip to do whatever we wanted to do as well as provided the most delicious cheeses, bread, wine, water for us. Conversation was interesting as he was able to tell us lots about Lisbon and the other side of the river that we hadn’t heard. He is a perfect gentleman and sailor and we recommend him highly. "
