"Our family and a few friends arrived in Madrid and spent a delightful early afternoon with Drica seeing artwork and visiting the market in the Lavapies neighborhood. Drica was a wonderful guide, answering all of our questions and providing lots of intriguing history about Spanish life that we were seeing reflected in the artwork. Our family has many food restrictions and Drica skillfully was able to find tapas and a quieter place for our group to sit in the marketplace. We learned a ton about contemporary Spain too and she was a very responsive communicator when we set up the tour to tailor the tour to our group’s interests and worked with our group’s pace. "Maria is a knowledgeable and friendly guide. We learned a lot about the artists and specific images we had been walking by all week. There is so much graffiti and paintings in Valencia. Choosing what to view and discuss is a challenge. We became more observant after the tour. We would like to know more about the relationships between those who paint images and those who paint script and initials only. Also, we also want to know more about those who choose own walls to paint and those who are paid by property owners to paint on their gates and walls. "

It was a great way to discover the district of lavapies with a more local view, and enjoy some typical vermut in the neighborhood market. It really felt like diving straight into a community and lively district, while understanding the recent gentrification problems and changes it is facing.
