Belem Tower is a 16th-century fortification located in Lisbon, Portugal. The tower was built in the Manueline style and is a prominent example of the Portuguese Renaissance. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited monuments in Portugal. The tower stands on a small islet in the Tagus River estuary and is a symbol of Lisbon. It is a square tower with four storeys, each with a different decorative element. The ground floor is a gateway, the first floor has windows and the second floor has a balcony. The top of the tower is decorated with intricate stonework. The tower was built to defend the city from attack and was also used as a lighthouse. It is now a popular tourist attraction with views over Lisbon and the river.
"We were staying in Cascais but spent one day in Lisbon, where Ricardo met us for a three hour walking tour of his city. Where he met us was a small food park overlooking the city. It was a great spot to start. He gave us the history of the city and Portugal. We stopped about halfway to sit in a small plaza with a cool drink and learn a bit more about the area. He was very interesting and made the three hours go very fast. When we were done, he walked us back to where we had a reservation for a Fado show, he didn’t have to do that, it was very nice of him to go out of his way to help us. I would recommend using him if you’re visiting Lisbon. "

"We had a wonderful tour with Joao in Lisbon. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and truly wanted to make the tour what we wanted in terms of places visited, information presented, etc. We found him to be interesting and engaging and allowed us to set the pace and tone as the tour progressed. For example, if he presented a topic that we were particularly interested, we spent additional time exploring that topic. We had one full day to explore Lisbon and spent the morning with him getting a good overview of the city before exploring later on our own. Highly recommend Joao for any visitor. "
