Experience Walking tours in the best of
Heidelberg with Withlocals

"Daniel was a great 3 hr tour guide of the castle and town."

"Knowledgeable friendly courteous and good sense of humor. We highly recommend him"

"I visited Heidelberg 41 years ago with some high school mates and we had a great time ….mostly staring at the end of a mug of beer. This time, my wife and I decided to book a three hour tour of the castle and hidden gems of Old Town with Daniel through Withlocals and so glad we did. Daniel was born in US but the son of a military man so he moved around a lot but has lived in Heidleberg for over sixty years. He showed us the castle and all the backstory…tremendously interesting and worth the trip up the hill and the $11 ticket. Somehow Daniel covered 800 years of castle-history in about 90 minutes…fascinating. Then we headed down the hill to learn a little more about the town. We covered the churches and battles between Catholics and Protestants, the student jail, a typical Heidleberg families home/office, the old bridge and even learned how the regulated the size of a proper pretzel circa 1500. Daniel is a terrific guy and a gracious host in the town he is so very proud of and rightly so. "

"Daniel is a very friendly and experienced guide in Heidelberg. He doesn't just stick to pure historical events and dates, but always knows a little bit more about the people involved. He told us many interesting stories that definitely brought us closer to Heidelberg. And if you can answer a question or two, you'll go home with a bag full of gummy bears! We would book Daniel again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a very interesting afternoon in my hometown :-)"

"I highly recommend Daniel. You can tell he has a passion for what he does. He made our trip unforgettable with all his knowledge. Private tours are definitely worth the extra cost due to how much more you get out of them vs a group tour. I challenge you to find a nicer person than Daniel! "

"Daniel was amazing! We book a private tour and added some stuff. He made it fun and educational! "

"Great tour with a friend and family. Daniel was punctual, knowledgeable and fun. He had the perfect tour planned - flowed well, great stories, and the right length. I felt like I really got to know Heidelberg. Would recommend. "
