What you can expect

Forget about the buzzing city vibes and go outside of Hanoi to discover a traditional local village.
Bat Trang village, which is located on the Red river’s bank (about 13km from Hanoi center) has been an important ceramic center of Vietnam for centuries. This experience will help you learn a lot about the ceramic art that has been developed over time and you will definitely gain more understanding of Vietnamese culture and history.

Step into this ceramic village where you will watch different procedures on how to make ceramic objects (industrial scale and hand-made products). Visit two ceramic workshops in the outskirts area of Bat Trang. Thanh Phuc ceramic workshop specializes in producing household products; such as teapot, bowl, dishes, etc. And the other, Cuong Duyen ceramic workshop is majored in making Feng Shui stuff.

To see the final products you'll go to the gallery of Cuong Duyen ceramic workshop. And if you would like to give ceramics a try, I can help set up a ceramics workshop at a craftsman’s house.

Enjoy a local lunch as you discover this charming village and I tell you its history and local insights.

For more of a cultural sight, at Bat Trang village you'll have a chance to visit some of its highlights. Like the ancient parts of Bat Trang village - Bat Trang temple, and a French-style house. Also stop by the Dao Xuyen pagoda, which is full of traditional and historical stories.

Let me know if you have any special wishes and I will be more than happy to tailor this experience for you.

Create your own souvenir and enjoy the local life!

When I was a kid, I first knew about Bat Trang ceramic village by its pottery products. I still remember how careful my mom was while unpacking stuffs. Another world – delicate and colorful exposed in front of my eyes. The set of tea pot and cups, the plates and bowls; the saving pigs looked charming and so alive. My mind was absolutely blown away.

Since I had my first trip there, I always want to come back. When I am sitting on the bus, I can totally enjoy the peaceful views outside the windows. The delightful Red River looks energetic with lines of boats transporting goods. The green color of endless bamboo ranges and gardens make me forget my hustle and bustle life. As soon as I get there, I am welcomed by quiet and clean atmosphere. I also have chance to make ceramic stuffs by myself, create funny things. Walking along the winding lanes is my pleasure. I can see “cool” walls that have rows of peat on them. Besides, observing local ceramic makers performing their work, I am inspired. from head to toe. The ancient commune house and French style house are magnificent. The well-reserved architecture and the historical stories amaze me.

Being in love with Bat Trang, I hope that the beauty of tradition and ceramic art will be always reserved and introduced to more and more people."
