What you can expect

The Netherlands is famous for many things, but something that doesn't get enough recognition is its food. As a big food freak and experienced history guide, I want to invite you to dive into the tasty mystery of Dutch food!

Go off the beaten track into to the delicious heart & soul of Amsterdam. Discover the Dutch cuisine and how it has changed thanks to other influences and time. You'll find out that there is more to Dutch food than cheese or fries!

Us Dutchies love us some sweets, but not just regular sweets. Try a typical anise-flavored treat that you would call candy, but we take it to another level and eat it on top of our bread.

Of course, you'll also have a famous Dutch cheese tasting. Taste10 different types of cheeses and ask me all of your cheesy questions, but hey: don’t milk it!

Leave the crowds behind and travel to a famous local neighborhood: the Jordaan area. Here you will find hidden gardens, typical Dutch brown bars, and most importantly: the best apple pie in town! In the heart of the Jordaan, you'll also visit a Dutch candy store and taste the typical Dutch “Black Gold” licorice.

It's time to go international! My grandpa always told me that the best Dutch food is Indonesian food. Let’s find out if you agree with my grandpa while we try my favourite Indonesian treat with a Dutch touch to it.

And for a real local treat, eat some raw fish! Herring is a local delicacy that for the Dutch is a must and they have been eating it for over a 1000 years!

I also want to take you to my favorite café where you can try yourself on the wooden old Dutch game called “Sjoelen”. Here you can enjoy authentic Dutch Bitterballen paired with a local beer. By now you must be feeling like a local, so why not try a drink we call the “Headbunk”. Find out after you taste it, why we call it like that.

This experience is unique and includes at least 5 tastings! I'll personalize the tour & tastings according to your preferences & requests.

Try delicious food and discover the city with me. And remember: if it ain't Dutch, it ain't much!

Otto Nooitgedacht has been a guide for years and loves telling crazy stories about the dutch and his hometown Amsterdam. Otto is perhaps the most Dutch Dutchman where all the stereotypes are based on! He is tall, has Dutch blonde hair and blue eyes, he owns multiple pairs of wooden shoes and a total of five bikes. Otto grew up on a Dutch “Terp”, a small hill which turned into an Island once a year! He went to the big city of Amsterdam to study and now knows Amsterdam as well as his old tiny island. Now when he is not reading books about Amsterdam’s history, or busy researching the human mind in his studies of psychology, he is providing people with his Amsterdam walking tours and hopefully making them laugh about his retarded jokes."
