What you can expect

I want to show you the best of my adopted city. And there is no better way to see as much as possible than on a bike. Join me for a private bike tour where I'll cover many of Budapest's most popular sights, while also exposing you to some lesser known neighborhoods and places that are popular among the locals.

This smooth bike ride will allow you to see the best of the city. Along the way, I will give you historical information, and I'll share my favorite facts about the city, its people and life in Hungary.

Meet me by the Opera house where your bike and equipment will be ready for you. From there you'll ride through Pest past the St. Stephen’s Basilica and the Parliament on your way to Buda, but with a detour around the beautiful Margaret Island, a favorite place for locals to spend a summer day.

On the Buda side, you will have a chance to ride along the Danube past the Chain bridge. Pass below the Buda castle and Gellert hill and then cross back over to Pest, past the Great Market. By now you should have worked up quite a thirst, so its fit to stop for a cold drink on the banks of the Danube.

After your well-deserved break, continue through some of the older neighborhoods of Pest, including some local parks and the Hungarian National Museum in the Palace district. From there you'll cross over into the 7th District, which in recent years has turned into Budapest’s hip party area, full of unique bars, clubs, and restaurants, including many of the ruin pubs which have become synonymous of Budapest's nightlife. Here, you'll stop by the original and most famous ruin pub, Szimpla Kert.

The ride continues through the 7th district, past Europe’s largest Synagogue, and then along Andrássy Blvd to Hunyádi square, one of my favorite smaller neighborhood parks, where you will visit the local market hall and enjoy an espresso and a pastry, local style. After your snack break, ride by the Terror House museum on Andrássy Blvd, as we return back to our starting point by the Opera.

The tour covers approximately 18 km/11 miles on mostly flat terrain, but through some busy city streets. Tours can be completely customized for you, just let me know what I can do for you!

I moved to Budapest six years ago on a 3-year assignment, but fell in love with the city and stayed. After many years in the corporate business world I decided to take some time to pursue other interests and to spend more time doing things I am passionate about, such as showing people around my adopted home town."
