What you can expect

Hike with me, a savvy local, and see Hong Kong from above!

Check out a section of the infamous Maclehose Trail, one of National Geographic's 20 Dream Trails of the World.

Challenge yourself to a 5km hike along the country trail, where some sections offer panoramic views of the Kowloon Peninsula all the way to Victoria Harbour.

A few people know that a part of the Maclehose Trail formed part of the 'Gin Drinkers Defence Line' by British forces against the Japanese invasion during World War II.

My recommendation: bring a headlamp and get lost in Shing Mun Redoubt, a network of tunnels connecting observation posts and pillboxes, which were also a fierce battleground in the past.

At one of the closest country park in Kowloon from the city, enjoy a calming view of nature surrounding the Shing Mun Reservoir, constructed by the British in the 1930s. If you are lucky you might see some monkey families dominating the hills.

All trails are mostly paved, well maintained and suitable for any visitor who enjoys outdoor activities on their trip!
