What you can expect

I invite you to our communal kitchen and woody event space DAHEIM MANUFAKTUR in Kreuzberg to learn the art of strudel making -like our Oma used to teach us. Nobody really makes a strudel dough themselves anymore, so it has become a rare but precious skill. We will share our traditional and fool-proof recipe with you, as well as a little round of fun Sauerkraut making (with your jar to take home), to cover all the German cooking basics. ;)


We will start at 7pm with a little snack of simple bread and butter, as you might be coming hungry from work. We will then prepare the strudel dough together as it takes around 30 minutes to rise. In the meantime we will prepare our savoury filling - and some sauerkraut, that's a little souvenir of the night to take away with you :)

Next, we will each fill our own strudel, which is the creative part. We are traditionally filling our savoury strudel with ground beef, sauerkraut, sautéed onions and creme fresh. As a vegetarian option you can fill it with sage potatoes, leek and mountain cheese.

You learn how to mix a fool proof dough, how to roll it out paper thin, as well as the tricks in filling and decorating it. We then finish off with finally eating our freshly baked strudel with some lovely sides in our cozy cabin style event space.

A strudel is definitely the star at every party, especially around Christmas time. The possibilities of filling it are endless, and you could go completely diy and use your own homemade sauerkraut for the next round.

This is a 3,5 - 4 hour workshop with all ingredients, Welcome-Brotzeit and your own jar of sauerkraut as well as your recipes to take home

This course is limited to 10 guests, with a minimum number of 3 participants- and held in English and German.

I am a born and bred Bavarian and went to live all over Germany, the USA and England to work in different areas of the fashion industry.
Throwing dinner parties for friends has always been my big passion and so I started a German pop-up café in one of London’s old East End pie shops. Inspired by London’s enthusiasm about my German home cooking I decided to move back to Germany to set up a small food business for a living. 2 years on I now run a small cosy delicatessen manufacture in a very pretty part of Kreuzberg along the river.
