Degaldoruwa Raja Maha Viharaya -The Kandyan king, Kirti Sri Rajasinghe (1747-1780) was a great patron of the arts. It was during his time that some of the best paintings in upcountry temples were created. Among them, the Degaldoruwa Raja Maha Vihara paintings stand out. Temple is just a few miles away from Kandy close to Kundasale and is well worth a visit to get an idea of the Kandyan style of paintings.
Ambakka temple, which was built during the 14th century is believed to have been built by King Wickremabahu III, The temple is very particular because it owns some of the greatest wood carvings in Sri lanka. The carved wooden pillars in the temple are believed to have come from a royal viewer's hall in the city.
Gadaladeniya Temple was built during the reign of Gampola King Wicramabahu somewhere around 1344. Considered to be the largest temple in Sri Lanka, built of granite, Gadaladeniya is situated on top of a rocky outcrop.
Lankathilaka temple is a place must to be visited without denying. The temple was built by king Buvanekabahu 4 around the 14th century. The Temple is known for its traditional Sinhalese architecture and King Buwanekabahu IV was built in 1344 AD atop a rocky and uneven hilltop.
Ranawana temple - The world’s tallest walking Buddha statue can be seen at this temple. there are many statues of Buddha depicting various births in his life before attaining Nibbana. This temple is built without disturbing nature & it’s a wonderful experience to walk through wood, climbing steps to reach walking Buddha statue
Visit Brassware factory- Kandy is famous for quality artistic brasswork in Sri Lanka. Experts in traditional brasswork live in Pilimatalawa area in Kandy. They use wrought and cast techniques to produce different types of brass items. Bowls, tea sets, decorative items and ornaments are made especially by the wrought technique.
