Hola, soy Bartosz.
Paris is one of the most documented cities in the world. It is also one of the most misunderstood. I am a historian specialising in French history and culture, living and working in Paris. My background is academic — archives, primary sources, years of research into the city's political, social and architectural history — but what I offer is the opposite of a lecture. I translate that knowledge into experiences that make Paris legible: its streets, its buildings, its contradictions, its character. What I do well is context. A Haussmann boulevard is not just beautiful — it is the scar left by the deliberate demolition of a medieval city. A church on the Left Bank is not just old — it is a document of the relationship between power and faith across ten centuries. A neighbourhood café is not just charming — it is the continuation of a social institution that shaped French intellectual life. I bring these layers to the surface, and I do it in a way that is conversational, unhurried, and adapted entirely to who you are and what you're curious about. My areas of depth include French history from the medieval period through the Revolution and into the twentieth century, Parisian architecture and urban history, French cinema and cultural life, and the social geography of the city as it actually functions today — not as it appears in travel guides. I work exclusively with individuals and very small groups. Every experience is built around your interests, your pace, and your time in the city. I handle everything: itinerary, reservations, logistics. You arrive, and Paris opens. I also curate intimate jazz evenings for guests who want to experience the city after dark — not a venue, but a genuine introduction to a living musical culture, through people and places I know personally. If you are looking for something specific, personal, and prepared with care — get in touch. I am happy to design an experience around exactly what you are looking for.
