"My wife and I had a wonderful tour of Kyoto with Simone off our recent Asian Cruise. He took us to some beautiful landmarks but at the same time kept us away from the crowds. We enjoyed some amazing food in local markets and felt totally at ease on our very full and fulfilling day. Simone has a genuine and engaging personality, and we could not have wished for a better guide. Footnote. Our Cruise offered a group excursion to Kyoto for not much difference in cost. They spent over four hours in traffic on the bus and saw one temple. Even though our next tour with them was not as good we still cannot recommend With Locals highly enough. "

"Meeting Ted was a highlight of our time in Kyoto. We spent 3 hours with Ted exploring Nishiki Market - he guided us through the very best places to eat, the history behind some of the long standing market stalls, which tourist traps to avoid, all whilst getting hands-on and experiencing all the unique foods to Japan. He also gave me great tips about special things to do in Kyoto, even if they weren’t part of his own tour. He provided excellent recommendations on where to eat and what to see. More importantly, he was the first guide who truly knew the places he showed us in depth. He is very knowledgeable and highly professional at what he does. "Eiji was a fantastic guide!! We toured on a rainy day and he planned a great itinerary that hit all the needed high points, adjusted for things we had already seen, and pivoted to other options for the rain, while still seeing amazing things. He’s funny, kind and very personable. Very nice and understanding of children. Very educational to talk to a local about Kyoto life and Japanese culture. Kyoto has great sites and a LOT of them. For us, this tour helped us see way more than we could have alone. Lastly, and this was AMAZING, he took lots of great pictures of our group, in all the right stops, avoiding crowds as much as possible. "So Naoki was our first tour after arriving after a few hours earlier in Japan. So we had done the overnight flight and the Shinkansen from Tokio to Kyoto that same day. We were a little tired but Naoki managed to pull us through a full 3 hrs tour and we didn’t even notice time fly. So on the one hand side he is a super easy to get along with person - super level of English and very knowledgeable about Kyoto and very likeable - we really enjoyed his guidance. The guidance to the specialities of the Kyoto area were also super - we tried lots of fun stuff - more then just the wagyu we had koi and eel and pickled vegetables - just to name a few. So overall we can really just recommend Naoki and this tour. "
